Alexander Skarsgard 'Impressed' With His 'Battleship' Co-Star Rihanna

Rihanna has already proved she can conquer the dance floor, and if her her "Battleship" co-star Alexander Skarsgård is to be believed, she's not having problem transitioning into the world of film either. In an interview with GQ UK, the "True Blood" star talked about working on the songstress' feature film debut.
The Swedish actor, who will play a commander of a Navy destroyer, said that despite Rihanna's busy schedule, she's performing well.
"This is her first movie but she's great, she's really really good in it," Skarsgård said. "She's got a crazy schedule. She's really diligent and I'm impressed. We would work and then she'd fly to LA to perform at the MTV [Video] Music Awards and then fly back redeye, land, go straight to set, work all day. No complaints, nothing. She's really solid."
MTV News caught up with Rihanna at the 2010 VMAs, and she said couldn't be happier on the set of the board-game-based film. "I'm really enjoying it, actually. I like it," she gushed.
When asked how it was working with Skarsgård, Rihanna replied, "He's really cool, just laid-back. He doesn't get in the way. [He's] not very talkative, but he's a really cool guy and that's [to] everybody — not just the cast."
Skarsgård, who co-starred in Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" video, described that shoot as "crazy" and "a lot of fun," and he revealed that the experience with the Barbadian songstress is a bit different considering the amount of time he's spent working time with the pop stars. "[Filming Battleship] is a different experience because Rihanna, we're out there together for a couple of months," he said.
Photos of a Rihanna in Hawaii, sporting a short brunette hairdo and a traditional U.S. Navy uniform, surfaced earlier this month.
"Battleship" will land in theaters on May 25, 2012.

Heidi Montag Calls Off Divorce From Spencer Pratt

Heidi Montag has decided to call off her divorce from Spencer Pratt, TMZ reports.
According to the website, Montag filed a motion for dismissal at L.A. County Superior Court on Wednesday. She originally filed for divorce from her former "Hills" co-star in July citing "irreconcilable differences." Pratt's rep had not responded to MTV News' requests for comment by press time.
Montag made no secret of their reunion earlier this month when she tweeted about Pratt shortly after they returned from a trip to Costa Rica. "First few days back in America! I dont think I will ever leave again, at least I am never letting @SpencerPratt pack again!!!! Praise Jesus!"
But, since the divorce filing, the pair have also been open about the seeming dissolution of their marriage. Pratt claimed to have a sex tape featuring Montag and threatened to release it if she didn't take him back; Montag denied the tape's existence.
When MTV News spoke to Pratt over the summer about the rumors and his wife's intentions to divorce him, he was quick to point out that there was still a lot of love between the two. "I'm obsessed with her," he shared. "We're Speidi. If I could change my face and name, she would have never divorced me."
At the time, Pratt said he and Montag were trying to figure out what they should do next. "We're working things through," he said. "Clearly I care for her, but the divorce is a superficial title 'cause I didn't cheat on her. And then she divorces me to clean her image. That doesn't fly with me. As much as I was like, 'Do it' [with the divorce], I never thought it would work. You can't be Speidi and then all of a sudden get a divorce. She's still serious about it because she's trying to divorce what is Spencer Pratt. She still loves me.'
In fact, Pratt said he was taking steps toward changing for her. "I gave away all my crystals. I gave all my crystals to my old middle school," he said. "So no more crystals, woo woo woo."
What do you think about Speidi reconciling? Let us know in the comments.

Jay-Z Will Not Replace Mathew Knowles as Beyonce's Manager
Beyoncé
Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ WireImage
Jay-Z may be Beyoncé's husband, but the hip-hop heavyweight will not be managing the pop star anytime soon. According to a statement posted by the singer's management website, Music World Entertainment, Beyoncé's father, Mathew Knowles is not being replaced by Jay-Z or anyone else as her manager.
"Contrary to false rumors online, Beyoncé and her manager Mathew Knowles unequivocally have had and continue to have a close personal and business relationship. Mathew Knowles is the sole and exclusive manager of Beyoncé," the statement reads.
Mathew Knowles has always played an important part in his daughter's career, dating all the way back to her days in Destiny's Child. When the group split in 2005, Mathew continued managing Beyoncé as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. But Rowland and Williams recently parted ways with Knowles and his Music World Entertainment team. Earlier this year, he also denied claims that the trio were in talks to reunite Destiny's Child.
In addition to refuting the online rumors, the management company confirmed that the singer is working on upcoming music projects. "Furthermore, Beyoncé is readying the release of her new, highly anticipated DVD and has started the recording process for her new album," the statement concluded.
One producer that the singer may be reuniting with for her next record is Ne-Yo. The pair previously worked together on her hit single "Irreplaceable" back in 2006. Just last week, the soon-to-be father tweeted, "Mornin' NY!!! Studio with Mary J Blige last night, Beyonce tonight. I LOVE MY JOB!!! Shout out Jerry Wonder!!"

Nick Cannon Challenges Eminem To A Fight
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images
What do you call it when someone, for no apparent reason, revives a beef that you thought was squashed? A re-beef?
Whatever you call it, Nick Cannon just did it. The "America's Got Talent" host and radio DJ attempted to light a fire under his long-simmering (but seemingly over) dispute with Eminem over the weekend by posting a fight-club challenge to Detroit's finest.
"The time has come! Boys talk the talk, but men walk the walk. Nick has laid down the challenge to meet Eminem in the ring," reads a post on Cannon's official site. "Nick and the rest of the crew on Rollin' With Nick Cannon think it's time for the feud to be over once and for all. And to draw Slim Shady out of hiding, Nick has decided to do it all for charity." Cannon has even set up a Facebook page to hype the unlikely event.
You remember this year-and-a-half-old beef, right? Eminem's "Bagpipes From Baghdad," off his Relapse album, took some shots at Cannon and his wife, Mariah Carey. Cannon shot back: He dissed Em's skills and clowned on his boasts of bedding Mariah, calling the attack "racist bigotry."
Then Mariah got in on the act, seemingly dressing up as Slim Shady in her "Obsessed" video, even though Cannon said the resemblance was just coincidental. And then it was back on, with Marshall Mathers serving up yet another dis track against Carey and Cannon called "The Warning" in July 2009.
Despite both sides repeatedly denying any beef, the shots continued into August, with Cannon hitting back at Eminem with a series of biblical tweets. And then the whole things seemingly went away.
Cannon reignited the fuse in July, when he reportedly attempted to confront Shady at the BET Awards, making fun of Em for allegedly hiding out behind his security detail. Then, earlier this month, Cannon threw another haymaker, dropping "I'ma Slick Rick," in which he called into question, um, Eminem's ability to get ready for game time. "I don't know if I should hit him because he's feminine Slick/ Excuse me Eminem why you lying on your d---?/ Erectile dysfunction, you wanna get 'em up/ I see your mouth moving but you soft, Teddy Ruxpin," Cannon rapped.
A clean and sober Eminem told Vibe in August that he was done with all that, saying, "I really don't want to talk about [Carey] anymore. I don't want to keep beating a dead horse ... I'm not even going to comment about it. I'm done with that whole situation. I said what I had to say."
A spokesperson for Eminem could not be reached for comment on the Cannon fight challenge at press time.

Robert Plant And Alison Krauss Win Grammy Album Of The Year
Alison Krauss and Robert Plant accept the award for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on Sunday
Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images
"I'm bewildered," Robert Plant said onstage as he accepted the Grammy Album of the Year award with Alison Krauss on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday."
He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because Raising Sand, which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect Grammy album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.
You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his Led Zeppelin days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history.
Really, she's the key to Sand's success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, Sand was released.
And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain.
And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on Sand. His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified.
To date, Sand has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.
One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album.
"At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really good record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards."

Britney Spears On Working With Lady Gaga: 'Anything's Possible'
Britney Spears on the cover of <i>Pop</i>
Photo: J-Pop
From schoolgirl to toxic temptress, Britney Spears has played many characters throughout the years. But the singer took a very different approach for her photo spread in the upcoming issue of the U.K.'s Pop magazine by channeling her inner manga character. In the issue, the pop princess dished about the possibilities of a Lady Gaga collaboration and working with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for the anime-inspired cover.
Despite Gaga overthrowing Spears as the most-followed celebrity on Twitter, the singer had no hard feelings toward pop's newest sensation. "I'm a big fan of hers," she said when asked about working with Gaga. "Anything's possible!"
A collaboration between the pop stars doesn't seem out of the question, as Gaga's mega-hit "Telephone" duet with Beyoncé was originally offered to Spears.
Donning a white wedding dress and a veil with matching gloves, Spears innocently poses in a field of flowers on the cover. In another photo, the singer trades the dress for a leg-baring getup accessorized with a red backpack.
Spears' manga-style shoot was shot by Todd Cole with art direction from Takashi Murakami, who is often referred to as the "Andy Warhol of Japan." While the spread strays from the singer's typical styling, the pop star enjoyed working with the artist. "I loved working with Takashi," she said. "I especially liked how he took high-end fashion and incorporated it with Japanese manga."
The singer's tour to Japan was what originally piqued her interest in Japanese culture. "We looked at a lot of characters and artwork before we shot, so I could get a feel for what he was looking for," she explained. "I was in Japan on my past promo tour, and I loved it."
Editor in Chief Dasha Zhukova spoke to Style.com about the singer's Japanese treatment: "She's feminine, sassy, strong-willed, determined: all the things a great Pop icon should be. Couple that with some Japanese swimsuits and a Rodarte wedding gown, and I think she is pretty much Pop personified!"
Spears couldn't wait to share her excitement for her photo shoot with fans. The pop star took to Twitter, saying, "I just saw the photos for the first time and they are beautiful. Comes out Sept. 1st. Thanks @TakashiPom -- Britney."
Aside from gracing the cover of Pop magazine, the singer has already filmed a cameo for her "Glee" tribute episode and is working on completing the follow-up to 2008's Circus.

'Mission: Impossible IV' Cast Adds Josh Holloway
Josh Holloway
Photo: Alberto Rodriguez/ Getty Images
The heavily hyped cast of "Mission: Impossible IV" has added another star to its beefy roster: "Lost" actor Josh Holloway.
Holloway is reportedly in final negotiations to play a member of the Impossible Mission Force, the high-tech and top-secret task force headed up by Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This will be the first big feature-film role for the "Lost" star, who is best known for playing broody antihero Sawyer on the ABC series.
Holloway joins a band of high-profile actors on the Brad Bird-directed film. In addition to Cruise and Holloway, the cast includes Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Vladimir Mashkov, as well as returning "Mission" co-stars Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg. The production is supposed to begin shooting sometime this fall and filmmakers are currently scouting locations in Vancouver, Prague and Dubai. Paramount announced earlier this year that "M:I 4" will open on December 16, 2011.
While the production has already weathered a few storms, Cruise has been vocal about his commitment to bringing new talent to the franchise.
"My whole thing with the series is always having a new director come on and put their stamp on 'Mission: Impossible,' " he told MTV News this summer. "Brian De Palma was first, then John Woo, J.J. Abrams and now Brad Bird, so it will be Brad Bird's 'Mission: Impossible.' " Regarding his thoughts on the story line — which is, of course, very much under wraps — Cruise said simply: "It's sick. It's fun, really fun."
Pegg reacted to the latest casting news via an enthusiastic Twitter "conversation" with "Lost" executive producer Damon Lindelof.
Lindelof wrote: "Okay. They had me at Brad Bird. But now? I am TOTALLY IN"
To which Pegg responded, "I think I just squeed in my pants!"

VMA Nominations By The Numbers: Lady Gaga On Top
Lady Gaga
Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News
For an artist who has quickly made a habit of smashing records, Lady Gaga improbably did it again on Tuesday (August 2). She leaped past such career stars as "Telephone"/ "Video Phone" collaborator Beyoncé to set a new record for the most nominations in a single year for MTV's Video Music Awards, which air Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET.
The Mother Monster racked up 13 nods, far outpacing the artists with the second-most nominations, a resurgent Eminem, who racked up eight. On her way to setting the record, Gaga also became the first female artist nominated for two different clips in the coveted Video of the Year category for "Bad Romance" and "Telephone."
But 13 isn't the only significant number this year. We've pored over the nominations and here's a breakdown of the other figures popping out at the 2010 Video Music Awards:
1994: The year Usher's debut was released. As for the other nominees in the Best Male Video category, Eminem hit the scene in 1996, while the other three acts in the category — Drake, B.o.B and Jason DeRulo — didn't release their full-length debuts until 2010.
25: Nominated artists who've appeared on a NOW That's What I Call Music! Compilation: Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Rihanna, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Jason DeRulo, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Drake, Eminem, David Guetta, Katy Perry, 3OH!3, Kid Cudi, Pink, Beyonce, Coldplay, David Guetta, Enrique Iglesias, Green Day, Gorillaz, Jay-Z, MGMT, Muse and Paramore.
23 years: Age difference between Best New Artists nominees Broken Bells' James Mercer (39) and Justin Bieber (16).
9: The record Gaga will have to beat if she wants to snag the distinction of most wins in a single night, currently held by Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer."
7: Number of nominated artists who are playing at this year's Lollapalooza festival: B.o.B., Dan Black, Green Day, MGMT, Mumford and Sons, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys.
6: First time nominees, including B.o.B., Ke$ha, Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons.
2 1/2: Artists nominated in the Video of the Year category who were up for the award last year: Gaga (with assist from last year's winner, Beyoncé) and Eminem.
2: Previous times Eminem has been nominated for Video of the Year.
1: Number of times the band Ratatat has been mentioned before in connection with the VMAs.
1: Opportunities for a cast member of "Jersey Shore" to hop up onstage during an award acceptance, should Enrique Iglesias win for "I Like It" from the "Shore" soundtrack album.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories, including Best New Artist, from Tuesday (August 3) through September 12.

Inside Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth's Breakup
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have seemingly sung their "Last Song," and new details about the couple's split are surfacing. According to sources, 20-year-old Hemsworth may have been stepping out on Cyrus, who has been focusing on her career.
E! News reports that earlier this month, Hemsworth was seen flirting with admirers at a party in Newport Beach and hooking up with another young woman while partying in Huntington Beach during the US Open Surf Competition. Cyrus, 17, has been in Detroit filming the flick "LOL."
"Ever since she left for Detroit, Miley has been super focused on her work," a source described as an "insider close to the former couple" told E! News. "Liam wanted more, but she's 17 and has other priorities right now. He's been a distraction. [Miley's] not with anybody else."
Despite that assertion, rumors are now circulating that Cyrus may be spending quality time with co-star Adam Sevani. A photo of the pair allegedly hanging out on the set of "LOL" has circulated, although it is unclear if it is actually Sevani in the picture.
Hemsworth, who was seen hanging out alone at a Dave Matthews Band concert earlier this week, has reportedly visited the set of "LOL" twice. "Both visits were only about 24 hours in length — by Miley's choice," the insider told E! News. "She is not ready to settle down, and Liam's not a happy camper."
Breakup rumors have plagued the duo in the past, and they have been denied by Cyrus. And E! News' source said that the couple may not be completely over just yet: "They're both young. To say they are done forever would be premature, but it's safe to say for now they are doing their own thing."
However, Hemsworth's rep . Cyrus' refused to comment.

Justin Bieber Sings For Fans At Hooters In Canada
Justin Bieber (file)
Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images
Justin Bieber is living the life. The 16-year-old superstar was spotted and photographed with a bevy of Hooters waitresses after he stopped by the restaurant's local outpost at the West Edmonton Mall in Canada on Saturday, the Edmonton Sun reports. He was in town for a stop on his My World tour.
Not only did Bieber and his entourage, including four of his backup dancers, stop by for a quick visit, he also serenaded everyone at the restaurant. One of the servers at the restaurant, Tania Biggar, explained, "We were talking about deep-fried pickles. Then they said they would sing to me for free deep-fried pickles. The manager said if they sang for the whole restaurant, he'd pay for their entire meal. They serenaded the girls. They were actually super-polite. They were just awesome people to serve. They weren't demanding or anything like that."
The impromptu performance had fans in a frenzy. "Everybody that was sitting around them went over to talk to them. They told them they did an awesome job of singing," she said.
Biggar further explained that while the Hooters girls did get a photo with Bieber, they didn't get much one-on-one time with him. "None of the [servers] really got to talk to him. He was surrounded by his fans," she said. "That's how we knew he was coming in — it was all 14-year-old girls. And they all kind of move as one."
YouTube footage of the Hooters visit shows Bieber, dressed in a black jacket and black hat, walking through crowds of people. Despite all the fans trying to catch a glimpse of the star, it seems things remained relatively more low-key than past Bieber mall appearances.
The restaurant's manager, Sonny Verma, confirmed the blink-and-you'll-miss-him appearance of the "U Smile" singer to the Edmonton Journal. "We probably had a row six people deep and 10 people long at the window. It was pretty cool," he said. "I was told about 10, 15 minutes he came in here. It was really quick. He came in, took a quick picture and took off."

'Green Lantern' Star Ryan Reynolds Talks Sequel Possibilities
Ryan Reynolds
Photo: Getty Images
Aside from the buzz about Ryan Reynolds' claustrophobia-inducing performance in the upcoming thriller "Buried" — for which Reynolds filmed all his scenes within the confines of a wooden coffin — the news about the actor has been almost entirely focused on his superheroic efforts in "Wolverine," a possible Deadpool spin-off and "Green Lantern."
When MTV News caught up with him recently, we couldn't help but ask about possible "Lantern" sequels, as well as which comic book authors he found most helpful in getting into the character of Hal Jordan.
"It's a pretty big universe; there's a lot to explore," Reynolds said of the "Green Lantern" sequel possibilities. "There's a lot to explore with Hal, then without him. You could do a couple movies with Hal and then move on to Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner or any of those guys."
More "Lantern" without Hal Jordan — and Reynolds? Surely the busy actor isn't ready to give up his ring that quickly.
"Look, I'm saying in success, let's not put the cart before the horse," Reynolds said, emphasizing the fact that the first movie has to come out and be a hit before he can start talking about sequels. "In success, you do another movie, you do two, great. I think [the idea of two sequels] is fantastic, but the first one has got to land and people have got to see it and have to have that appetite for a sequel."
Fair enough. Regarding his go-to source for "Lantern" research, Reynolds cited famed DC writer/ current Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.
"Geoff Johns is it," Reynolds said. "His 'Secret Origins' book was the one I kind of used as the bible for this. It's an easy thing to reference, because it's an origin story as well. That was the one I sort of stuck to."
Check out everything we've got on "Green Lantern."

Rihanna Ties Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Mariah Carey For #1 Pop Songs
Rihanna
Photo: Troy Rizzo/ Getty Images
Rihanna is making hit songs, breaking records and taking names. The singer is currently tied with a few of her pop comrades for the most #1 songs on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart. She ties with Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Mariah Carey for the most #1's in the Nielsen survey. Rihanna now has six #1's on her résumé thanks to her chart-topping collaboration with Eminem, "Love the Way You Lie," according to Billboard.com.
Rihanna's other #1 songs on the pop chart include 2006's "SOS" (for one week); 2008's "Take a Bow" (for three weeks); 2008's "Disturbia" (three weeks); her late-2008 T.I. collabo "Live Your Life" (two weeks); and this year's "Rude Boy" (two weeks). "Love the Way You Lie" has been on top for one week so far.
Earlier this year Beyoncé and Lady Gaga tied Mariah Carey for six #1 pop songs with their collaboration, "Telephone." Carey had six songs hit #1 on the Hot 100 before the Pop Songs chart was created in 1993, and then six others since its creation. Meanwhile, Beyoncé collected hers from 2003 to 2010. Gaga was the fastest to tie the record, with all six released from 2009-2010.
Avril Lavigne, Pink, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake all come in a close second with five #1 pop songs in their careers.
Rihanna had fans talking last week when the video for "Love the Way You Lie" was released. The singer, who was assaulted by then-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009, appears in the video that depicts a violent love affair between Dominic Monaghan and Megan Fox.
How do you think Rihanna compares to the other women at the top of the pop chart? Sound off in the comments.

'Wall Street' Brings In Box-Office Bucks
Michael Douglas and Shia LaBeouf in "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps"

The Box-Office Top Five
#1 "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" ($7 million)
#2 "The Town" ($5 million)
#3 "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" ($4.6 million)
#4 "Easy A" ($3.6 million)
#5 "You Again" ($2.8 million)
Proving money still talks — at least, to moviegoers — "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" took the top spot at the Friday box office. Michael Douglas' return as Gordon Gekko, 23 years after he powered the cautionary money, power and success tale of the original "Wall Street," rang up $7 million in ticket sales.
Another cash-grabbing flick, "The Town," also scored big with audiences, landing in the second-place slot. The film, which follows vault looters (Ben Affleck), ladies (Blake Lively and Rebecca Hall) and the law (Jon Hamm) as they get caught up in the nefarious Boston bank-robbing underworld, made $5 million. The haul brings the movie's total estimated tally to just over $38 million since its debut last Friday.
The Friday top five wasn't all about money grubbing and shady ethics. The animated feature "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" debuted in third place. Adapted from the children's book series by author Kathryn Lasky, and boasting voice-over performances from Helen Mirren and Geoffrey Rush, the kid-friendly fantasy flick raked in an estimated $4.6 million.
The high-school comedy "Easy A" continued to turn in good marks at the box office. Featuring a cast of young Hollywood names, including Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes, the flick pulled in $3.6 million during its second Friday on screens.
Rounding out the top five with a tale of post-high school awkwardness is "You Again." Audiences plunked down $2.8 million to catch Kristen Bell's turn as a successful PR professional grappling with the fact that her brother's fiancé is her onetime schoolyard nemesis.

Britney Spears 'Glee' Episode: Everything You Need To Know!
Heather Morris in "Glee"
Photo: FOX
We've already seen what the masterminds behind "Glee" can do when they pay homage to blond pop stars (see: Madonna and Lady Gaga), but now it's time for the highly anticipated Britney Spears episode, which premieres Tuesday night (September 28). With Spears onboard to make an appearance in the episode, it's shaping up to be one very exciting episode — and it even had the cast freaking out.
In the months since it was rumored that the hit Fox show would pay tribute to Spears, there's been so much information floating around about it that we here at MTV News thought we'd round up the most salient tidbits regarding the episode, which is already rumored to have a sequel sometime next year.
Judging by preview clips, it appears Brittany and Santana hit up their local dentist, played by John Stamos, to get their hands on some anesthesia. From there, the girls go on a trippy ride through Brit's catalog, with some appearances by the pop princess herself. Show creator Ryan Murphy has called the episode "hallucinogenic."
The cast will be doing six of Britney's biggest hits all while resurrecting her most iconic costumes, including the "Oops ... I Did It Again" red-leather bodysuit; the bejeweled (and nearly naked) "Toxic" look; the "I'm a Slave 4 U" green bikini, complete with snake; Madonna and Brit's "Me Against the Music" menswear-inspired suits; the "(Baby) One More Time" schoolgirl uniform; and, finally, a stirring rendition of "Stronger."
Spears herself has been keeping her fans updated about the episode, and she will be live-tweeting during the show's West Coast airing. The bottom line, according to Amber Riley, is that the episode will live up to all of the hype. "I can tell you it's going to be a really great episode and you're going to love it," she said. "And they're doing the big hits from Britney."

'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' Wakes Weekend Box Office
Michael Douglas and Shia LaBeouf in "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps"
Photo: 20th Century Fox
If money never sleeps, nobody told that to Oliver Stone. The Academy Award-winning filmmaker withdrew from his old "Wall Street" savings account and subsequently delivered a first-place success in the form of "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."
In the sequel, Michael Douglas reprises his iconic role of greedy moneymaker Gordon Gekko, while "Transformers" star Shia LaBeouf joins the team as Gekko's new protégé and would-be son-in-law. Despite a serious delay that pushed "Money Never Sleeps" from its original spring 2010 release date to this past weekend, Stone's latest delivered a solid $19 million opening for 20th Century Fox, proving once and for all that greed is good — at least when you have Stone and Douglas on your side.
The "Wall Street" sequel may have won first place, but it didn't steal the entire spotlight at the weekend box office. "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" was a real hoot in second place with $16.3 million, proving that director Zack Snyder can win over a young audience just as deftly as he succeeds with the older geek crowd. But the bank robbers of Ben Affleck's "The Town" gave "The Owls of Ga'Hoole" a run for their money, losing second place by a margin of less than $300,000 in its second weekend in theaters.
Newcomer "You Again" didn't make quite the same splash, landing in fifth place with $8.3 million. But the comedy starring Betty White and Kristen Bell cost only around $20 million to produce, so the film's small opening isn't as disappointing as it could be.
Upcoming Releases
Director David Fincher wants you to accept his friend request in "The Social Network," while Chloe Moretz sinks her teeth into horror fans with "Let Me In." Renee Zellweger and Bradley Cooper's "Case 39" is another thriller worth investigating.

Jay-Z, Eminem Close Yankee Stadium Shows With Kanye West, Drake
Jay-Z performs at Yankee Stadium on Monday
Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage
NEW YORK — Like a good cleanup man in baseball, Jay-Z delivers big hits on a consistent basis.
On Tuesday night (September 14) at Yankee Stadium, the Brooklyn rapper closed out the fourth of his and Eminem's Home and Home shows (two in Detroit, two in the Bronx) with a performance that would make A-Rod envious.
"Break a record in this bitch, Hov," he rapped during a freestyle right after the opening number, the intro to his The Dynasty: Roc La Familia album. "Hit them with that BALCO."
The Roc Nation head, however, wouldn't need any performance-enhancing substances to give him an extra boost on this night. He confidently cruised through 90 minutes of material; Jay-Z was just as cool as the fall night.
Kanye West quickly arrived onstage two songs into the show for a mini-set of his own, riding shotgun with Hov on the "Power" remix and "Monster."
Jay-Z grabbed the crowd's attention again minutes later with an anecdote about his exit from the venue the night before. The legendary MC said on the way out after Monday's performance he ran into rap pioneer Kool Herc. Jay said he asked Herc to join him for Tuesday night's festivities, thanking Herc for creating hip-hop culture. "We wouldn't be here without you," he said.
"You ready for me to get out of here yet?" 'Ye asked Hov, bringing it back to the present.
"Not yet, we going all the way tonight," Jay-Z responded.
The Chicago star then burst into his "Good Life."
Next, Swizz Beatz joined Jay for "On to the Next One" before Eminem and the iconic lyricist traded verses on their collabo "Renegade." Eminem was agile onstage next to Jay-Z and appeared in arguably the best shape of his career.
"Go to war with the Mormons/ Take a bath with the Catholics," Em rapped. "In holy water/ No wonder they try to hold me under longer/ I'm a mother----in' spiteful, delightful, eyeful/ The new Ice Cube, mother----ers hate to like you."
Earlier in the evening, Eminem brought the capacity crowd to its feet by bringing out 50 Cent, who then brought out G-Unit's Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo with him. The trio from Queens sported glow-in-the-dark gear as the lights cut out during 50's performance of "I Get Money." Later, Fif ceded the stage to Em, and the Detroit superstar brought out Dr. Dre.
The hulking producer treated the crowd to "Still D.R.E." and "Nuthin' but a G Thang" sans Snoop Dogg; Eminem, though, filled in admirably for the Long Beach lyricist.
D-12 also took the stage during Em's set; the group dedicated their hit "My Band" to their fallen friend Proof.
The outfield was filled with fans, and their phones made the grounds look like a Lite-Brite as the screens lit up the stadium.
Jay-Z shouted out hip-hop's fallen heroes during his performance. He picked up Pimp C's "Big Pimpin' " verse a cappella and later ordered the DJ to play the Notorious B.I.G.'s "Juicy" and "One More Chance."
The show was smooth, but not without any hiccups. Drake delivered a stirring version of his "Light Up" with Jay-Z; the Toronto star sported a Blueprint 3-designed Yankees fitted cap to pay homage to Hov. "Welcome to the stage a man that's been getting busy as of late," Jay told the audience. "He goes by the name Drizzy Drake."
But minutes later, Drake stumbled through his and Nicki Minaj's "Up All Night." Hov offered a mulligan to Drake and later a olive branch when he told the crowd during his final song that he may have to offer the Young Money rapper a "free verse" to make up for messing up his sound.
Although Jay's most memorable performance involved his guest stars (Beyoncé also joined him, as did Nicki Minaj), this time it was a familiar face that helped him with the most moving part of the show. Memphis Bleek and Jay-Z ran through a series of the latter's past numbers as an encore.
"I got a million of these," Jay repeated twice, as he introduced songs ranging from "Jigga My N---a," "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and "Where I'm From."
"For anyone that hasn't been down since Reasonable Doubt," Jay-Z told the crowd shortly after midnight, "you can head to the [exit]."

Johnny Knoxville Reportedly Ties The Knot
Johnny Knoxville
Photo: Amy Sussman/Getty Images
Professional prankster Johnny Knoxville has reportedly tied the knot. According to UsMagazine.com the "Jackass 3-D" star wed his longtime girlfriend, Naomi Nelson, on Friday. Life & Style reports that Knoxville popped the question to Nelson just days ago, with a 2.5-carat engagement ring from Los Angeles' Platt Boutique Jewelry.
The nuptials follow the arrival of the couple's first child together. Knoxville and Nelson welcomed son Rocko Akira Clapp last December. Knoxville, whose real name is Phillip John Clapp, also has a teenage daughter, Madison, from his marriage to ex Melanie Clapp.
Despite his career of pulling off outrageous stunts, Knoxville and new wife have mostly maintained a low profile, and the actor has said Nelson keeps him calm.
"I'm lucky enough to be with someone, and I am happy," he told Knoxville.com. "I feel very lucky. I'm not out running around all the time. I don't party as much as I used to. I'm not partying constantly and constantly battling myself. I'm with someone, and we are very, very happy."
Knoxville's next move is decidedly more outlandish than making it legal with his ladyfriend. The actor appears in the latest installment of the prank-packed hit series, "Jackass 3-D," which lands in theaters on October 15. Even though he and "Jackass" pals like Steve-O and Bam Margera have been staging elaborate shenanigans for years, Knoxville revealed they still shot tons of footage for the upcoming flick.
"Man, we filmed so much stuff. So much great stuff got left out of the film because we just overshot," Knoxville told MTV News earlier this month. He explained the cutting-room bits will be available on a DVD set to hit shelves by the holiday season. "That'll be in '[Jackass] 3.5,' coming out at Christmas."
Leave well-wishes for the couple below!

From Kanye West's bright red suit to Lady Gaga's plumed Mohawk, the 2010 Video Music Awards gave viewers plenty to look at. But there were also plenty of blink-and-you-missed-it moments worth revisiting. Here are some of our faves.
Jane Lynch's Surprise!
The VMA stage was especially massive this year, with platforms extending and wrapping around the orchestra section of the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live. So you can't really blame "Glee" 's Jane Lynch for not noticing Rihanna's surprise entrance happening directly behind her. By the time Lynch realized where Ri's voice was coming from, she delivered a reaction shot that screamed over-the-top shock and unbridled joy. Who knew Sue Sylvester was such a die-hard Rihanna fan?!

Speaking of Rihanna, the Bajan beauty had a playful response to Drake's VMA debut: a sassy "well, isn't he fancy?" hair flip.

Eminem Pushes Alchemist To 'Step My Game Up'
Eminem
Photo: Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images
Behind The Beats: Alchemist
Alchemist pulled it off once again. Al, who rose to fame with his production for the likes of Mobb Deep, Lloyd Banks and Lil Wayne, has been prospering lately as Eminem's DJ. Em doesn't perform too much, so when a star of his caliber takes the stage, every show is high-profile. This month, Al was in the DJ booth during Em's Home and Home shows with Jay-Z in Detroit and in New York.
"With the band now, it eases a little bit of the pressure," Al said. "My friends say, 'You're pressing play and stop.' I'll tell them, 'It's pressing play and stop; it's not the technical part of it. If you mess it up, it's a stop and go, but you better do it right on time.' It's like the pyro. The pyro guy can't be a second off. Somebody can get blown up. Em being the perfectionist he is, it was clear: 'All right, Al, when you're on the stage with Em, there's no room for error.' I respected that. I was like, 'Oh, that's gonna make me step my game up.' I'm watching his shows, before I was his DJ, looking at how his vocals were perfect. In sync, perfect. I felt like this is important. I took it real serious."
Al said he, Eminem manager Paul Rosenberg and D12's Mr. Porter all give Em input on the show.
"At first I was nervous. Like, 'This is one of the greatest of all time. It's nothing I can really tell him,' " Al thought back. "But as you vibe together, you get ideas. I would test the waters a little bit. He would listen, not always take your idea, but be open-minded. As we started rehearsing, I started implementing some of the stuff I'm known for."
Paul and Em told Al to put some of his own flavor into the live sets. Fans got to hear some of that flavor during the Home and Home series.
"It was 'The Way I Am,' " Alchemist explained. "It was an old version where they had Edie Brickell in it: 'What I am is what I am.' So ... I was like, 'We should bring it back when we play it live.' It was a reason they didn't use it on the original song. Maybe clearance or something. Stuff like that. Or at the end of 'Not Afraid,' when the band is breaking it down, I made them get the a cappella and I put in the 'Holla if you ... ' Start cutting that up. I think about [DJ] Premier a lot. I think about how to be subtle as a DJ. The band's up here, Em is running the show. I look at it as accents. I was around [DJ] Muggs for so many years. I got to see so many great people do it. Definitely try to think of what I saw through the years, be subtle and play my part. Add some flavor."
Next Wave of Flav
On Eminem and Slaughterhouse: "I didn't make the Recovery album. Shout-out to DJ Khalil, the big homie. He did, like, four joints on the album. Em's got him on the album. Mr. Porter made the album. Havoc made the album. It adds to me wanting to go even harder. I think what it was, that I'm so accustomed to making stuff for Mobb Deep or Dilated [Peoples] or the people in my immediate circle. Being around Em more, I'm starting to get it. People vibe, and we make the best music. Now that I'm around him more, there's talks of the Slaughterhouse project. I think that might be one of the first moments I might be able to pick up some dust."
On Gangrene: "I got this project Gang Green with Oh No, a real good friend from the West Coast, a collaboration project we did together. We did the rhymes and beats together. It's like I'm almost going backwards. I've had my years when I tried to make big stuff after I had a little success. Now I'm gong back to the raw beats, making something every country can feel. Raekwon's on the joint. Guilty Simpson, Evidence, Fat Sean, a bunch of people I have relationships with."
On Prodigy: "P comes home in February. It's gonna be a very busy time. It's amazing. He feels like he's home already. He's in the best health he's been in. He's really excited. I've been sending him beats. Havoc is sending him beats. I e-mail them to his wife, and she puts it on some type of cassette. It's like he's in the studio, he's just not recording."

'Wall Street 2' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know
Michael Douglas in "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps"
Photo: 20th Century Fox
In the fall of 2008, a few weeks after Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy and Washington Mutual collapsed — and the tenor of the U.S. financial crisis turned from panicky to nearly apocalyptic — Fox gave the go-ahead for "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."
Hooray for capitalism! There's always room for shareholders to profit from even the most dismal economic news. Two years later, with the country still shackled by high unemployment and out-of-control debt, "Wall Street 2" bullied its way into theaters Friday (September 24). The Oliver Stone-directed film arrives nearly 23 years after the Oscar-winning original. The first film also opened in the shadow of financial uncertainty, just a few months after the stock-market crash known as Black Monday. Now, as then, the timing is right for a story about greed.
Michael Douglas returns as Wall Street mover-and-shaker Gordon Gekko, fresh off a jail sentence and determined, at least initially, to expose his industry's borderline criminal excesses. Gekko is set, as well, on repairing his relationship with his daughter (Carey Mulligan), a quest that brings him into an alliance with a young trader named Jacob (Shia LaBeouf). Throughout the film, we get both MBA-level corporate discourse and you-abandoned-me familial hurt feelings.
You needn't know the first thing about a credit default swap, though, before you head to the cinema. MTV News has been betting big on this movie for years, and now we're ready to collect — and share our profits with you: Enjoy our "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" cheat sheet.
Returning to the "Street"
Fox had been developing a "Wall Street" sequel since 2007, when the economy first began its downward spiral. A green light only came in October of '08, amid those bankruptcies and bank failures. Allan Loeb ("21") was tapped to pen the script, and Douglas was reportedly interested in reprising his iconic role.
But in February, Stone told MTV News he had dropped out of the project. "I didn't want to do another 'Wall Street' movie. I think everything I had to say came through," he told us. "I'm just not interested because it's so complex now. I don't think people can understand security derivatives."
By April, however, Stone had changed his mind. He was said to be blown away by Loeb's script and jumped at the chance to helm the sequel. It probably didn't hurt, as well, that Douglas appeared likely to return and that LaBeouf was in negotiations to join up. Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, Susan Sarandon and Frank Langella eventually signed on as well.
Getting Down to Business
Shooting kicked off in fall 2009, and we got our first look at Douglas and LaBeouf on set in October: the elder statesman rocking a casual-Friday look, the young buck in some designer duds. Charlie Sheen, who starred in the original, agreed to appear in a cameo for the new flick. "He came in. It was fun for a day. It was good to see him again," Douglas told us later.
The trailer dropped in January, giving us a grizzled, post-jail Gekko, copious shots of the go-go-go Wall Street and the supposition that greed, once good, has become legal. The movie debuted in May at the Cannes Film Festival.
Letting the Bulls Loose
As the release date approached, we got an opportunity to chat with the cast in New York and at the Toronto International Film Festival.
What convinced Stone to return for the sequel, he told us, was the chance to create "a completely new Gekko" and to dramatize an economic crisis he called "a heart attack, a real triple bypass to capitalism."
LaBeouf, meanwhile, was pulled in by the opportunity to work with Stone, whom he dubbed "the most dangerous filmmaker alive" in the 1980s and '90s. Plus, the actor views Gekko as even more compelling than key characters in two of his other starring franchises: Optimus Prime of "Transformers" and Indiana Jones.
"He's got more bite, he's more dangerous, he's the most dangerous of the three," LaBeouf said. "Also the most interesting, I think. There's something in how tangible and visceral it is. Whereas the other films are fantasy films where the suspension of disbelief is necessary for you to get into the movie. This isn't that. It's a very tangible world, and you're living in the midst of the twilight of American economic dominance."

Britney Spears

Britney Spears is no stranger to dressing provocatively and using sexuality to her advantage, but it's possible that doing so has gotten her into some hot water. On Wednesday (September 8), a former bodyguard of Spears' filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the singer, claiming she repeatedly made unwanted sexual advances toward him.
The bodyguard in question, Fernando Flores, was hired by Spears in February 2010 to work at her home in Calabasas, California. According to the suit (which was posted to TMZ), Flores claims Spears "made repeated unwanted sexual advances, summoning Plaintiff to her room at her residence for no other purpose or reason than to expose her naked or near naked body to Plaintiff."
The suit also accuses Spears of engaging in "numerous sexual acts in front of Plaintiff, including but not limited to having sexual intercourse" and also says he was regularly mocked whenever he complained about the singer's actions.
Perhaps the most damning material in the suit accuses Spears of child abuse. Flores alleges that Spears had sex and engaged in violent arguments in front of her two young children, both of whom were often watched by Flores. The suit wraps up with a description of an incident wherein Spears berated Flores because a drink she wanted at a movie theater was not available.
Though a dollar amount isn't named in the suit, Flores is seeking damages based around the sexual harassment incidents and for "intentional infliction of emotional distress."
According to Billboard, Spears' lawyer declined to comment on the lawsuit. Sources told TMZ that Flores' previous accusations of child abuse (including an incident where Spears allegedly whipped one of her sons with a belt) were declared without merit by the Department of Children and Family Services.

"I call it more of a spoken, rhythmic [singing style]," she explained. "I'm not a rap type. Maybe a little bit. It's speaking to the music, but if I say that I'm a rapper, I'm going to be like, 'I'm not a rapper.' I've got no flow in that way. I've got no swag."
Her "Can't Be Tamed" single, however, did just get a hip-hop makeover, courtesy of Lil Jon, who Cyrus said took the track to a whole new level. "He's sick," she said. "I love him, because he just made this song. It was already something that set me apart, but it just [became something more with him]. You know, the fact that he respects my music and we are completely opposite styles, and the fact that he can be like, 'OK, this is a good song,' it just shows you don't have to be a certain age, gender [to like it].
"It's a dance song," she added about the remix. "It's a party song, and he's awesome. I like how he's one person when he's chilling in the studio. I've never seen someone flip on and off. He's got, like, double personas ... like so wired. It's cool."
Although she once admitted she has never heard a Jay-Z song — despite her Jay-referencing line in "Party in the U.S.A." — she does have a few other favorite MCs, including Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman. "I love it," she said of the two rappers. "I don't know any of the songs. They all blend in. I can't really break it up, but I like it. But I'm not a rapper."

'Waiting For Superman' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know
Students in "Waiting for Superman"

After his last filmmaking effort, "An Inconvenient Truth," took the Oscar for Best Documentary, director Davis Guggenheim had the bar set rather high for his future projects. He seems to have met the challenge as his latest work, "Waiting for Superman," has been generating awards-show buzz and serious acclaim since it debuted at the Sundance Film Festival early this year. ("Superman" won the fest's Documentary Audience Award.)
MTV News has been following the poignant film, from its start at Sundance to the debut of the first trailer, and even logged some conversation time with Guggenheim. The arresting documentary finally arrived in theaters on Friday (September 24), and we've gathered all the facts you need to know.
First of all, what's all the fuss about? The film takes a long, hard look at the state of America's public school system, following five students in various U.S. cities who are struggling to get a quality education. It also features commentary from several leaders in the education field: philanthropist Bill Gates; Geoffrey Canada, president and CEO of the Harlem Children's Zone in Harlem, New York; and Michelle Rhee, chancellor of the Washington, D.C., public schools.
When the film traveled to Park City, Utah, in January 2010 for Sundance, it was quickly snatched up by Paramount Vantage, becoming the festival's first official sale, days before it even premiered there. "Superman" went on to win the Documentary Audience Award.
Four months later we got our eyes on the first trailer, and three months after that, MTV partnered with the Get Schooled campaign to host a screening of the film for members of various Chicago youth groups
Shortly thereafter, as part of our Fall Movie Preview, we had an insightful chat with Guggenheim about education reform, the reasons MTV viewers should care about their neighborhood schools and what the average person can do to sustain the conversation he hopes to start with this film. Leading up to the film's release, Guggenheim took the film and its important message — joined by Bill Gates and chancellor Rhee of the Washington, D.C., school district — to "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
This week, MTV News hit up the Los Angeles premiere of "Waiting for Superman" on the famed Paramount lot. There, Guggenheim celebrated with VIPs like "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Cheryl Hines and L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
"This movie has got to be a catalyst for real change," Villaraigosa said. "It's got to do for education what 'An Inconvenient Truth' did for climate change and the struggle to educate people about global warming. This is the pre-eminent challenge facing America. It is the civil-rights issue of our time. When you look at the kids in urban schools, the level with which they're dropping out and the abysmal success rate of our urban public schools."
On the lighter side of things, but still in the spirit of "Superman," we made a list of our favorite fictional schools over at the MTV Movies Blog, where Hogwarts and "Back to the Future" 's Hill Valley earned nods.
What's your opinion on the education issues raised by "Waiting for Superman"? We want to hear what you think in the comments!
