Almost two years after Katy Perry and Russell Brand tied the knot in India, the ex-couple are now divorced. Brand filed for divorce from the pop star in December, and it was finalized on Monday (July 16).

According to E! Brand's filing, which cited irreconcilable differences, came just 14 months after their lavish ceremony in front of family and friends. The exes famously hooked up after flirting at the 2009 MTV VMAs.

The two have addressed their split several times since first announcing their divorce. Brand spoke about it in a few interviews, including a sit-down with ITV1's "Lorraine" show, where he said that the marriage "did work out in a way." He added that "you just have to have acceptance of things. She is a person that I love, but now this is a new time."

The comedian also opened up to Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show about his famous ex. "I still love her as a human being," he said. "But sometimes when you're in a relationship, I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her. She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her.

"You can't absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life," he continued. "Sometimes things are just different and then you have to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and with each other with any situation."

Meanwhile, Perry addressed the split in her 3-D film, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," which hit theaters earlier this month. She explained to MTV News why she made sure her divorce made the film's final cut.

"It's not about the problem; it's about how you solve it," Perry said. "And if I can be an example showing people that they don't have to lay down and die because they've been thrown a curveball, then that's great. Slaughterhouse link with Cee Lo and Em for their new video, and boy is it rich.
By Rob Markman

Don't you just hate when rappers flaunt their riches in the face of the less fortunate? Well that's just what Eminem and Slaughterhouse do in the quartet's new "My Life" video, except they make it all look really cool.

The Syndrome-directed video, which dropped Wednesday (June 20), starts off with a rather lengthy skit featuring the super-rich Eminem thumbing his nose at the poor and lowly by skeet-shooting his platinum plaques, showing off his fleet of 300 Chrysler 300s and playing whack-a-mole with real-life baby seals. It's all part of a Robin Leach-inspired opening skit called "Rappers Are Richer Than You," and in the end, Slim Shady bathes in the tears of struggling MCs and gets fed grapes by his pet tyrannosaurus rex.

It all sounds pretty farfetched, but if quality rap bars directly translated into dollars, then Royce Da 5'9", Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden and Crooked I would be the wealthiest MCs in the game. In the video, the fearsome foursome, along with Cee Lo Green on the hook, detail their rise from starving artists to being one of hip-hop's most celebrated acts.

Long Beach, California, lyrical assassin Crooked I sets things off, turning his broken-down lemon into a convertible Ferrari thanks to some choice visual effects. Crook takes a joy ride as he ponders, "How does it feel to count dollar bills that I found off skills?" in the middle of his verse.

Ortiz sits on a housing-project bench reflecting on his early days as a drug dealer getting chased by the police. He goes from scaling a barbwire fence to a beach where he sips drinks with tiny umbrellas in the company of two vixens.

Budden depicts a similar come-up, starting off taking mug shots and finishing his verse posing for the paparazzi. Still, Joey proves that his recent wins haven't just brought him riches; they've also helped bring him closer to his estranged son Trey, whom he has rapped about for so many years. "What a success story, the film plays, it gets less gory/ My son didn't know who his pops was for years, now it's less Maury."

Royce caps things off, rapping about putting on for his city and earning enough so his dad could retire from his job as a U.S. postal worker. The fact is, fans have never seen Slaughterhouse smile so much, but there is no hate here: After all they've been through, Joey, Joell, Royce and Crook deserve a taste of the good life.

What do you think of Slaughterhouse's "My LIfe" video? Let us know in the comments!

Former Disney star rumored to play a 'sexy' new catch for Jake Harper.

"Two and a Half Men" might be adding some girl power: Miley Cyrus is rumored to appear on the show next season.

According to a source, the actress/singer will play the love interest of the show's "half man," Jake Harper (Angus T. Jones). E! News reports that she will appear in several episodes as a new girl who catches Jake's eye.

While reps for both the show and the actress have yet to respond to MTV News' requests for comment, the source said Miley's character will be "sexy" and the part will be "rife with comedy." Her part on the hit CBS show will welcome the "Hannah Montana" star back to the small screen after she hung up her "Hannah Montana" wig back in January 2011.

"Two and a Half Men" is just the latest news for Cyrus. In addition to her work in the big-screen FBI-themed comedy "So Undercover," set for release later this year, she has also been busy planning her wedding to fellow star Liam Hemsworth and working on a new album.

Earlier this summer, Cyrus began work on her next batch of music, which will reportedly show her growth not only musically, but also as a person. Working with the likes of Pharrell Williams and Hit-Boy, an insider said she is "having fun making music for the first time in her career. ... We are watching a young girl turn into a young woman."

Miley is also making headlines for her new 'do: She chopped off her hair over the weekend and tweeted a photo of the cropped, platinum-blond look. Of the new hairstyle, she wrote, "Never felt more me in my whole life."

"We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard."

Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of Rage Against the MachineRage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like.

"It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. Lawless — The Prohibition-era thriller, based on real lives of the moonshine-running Bondurant clan, casts Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Jason Clarke as brothers who try to throw their weight around, facing off with a corrupt lawman (Guy Pearce). Gary Oldman burns up the screen as a controlling thug, Jessica Chastain is a dancer who gets mixed up with the brothers, and Mia Wasikowska checks in as a preacher's daughter whom LaBeouf's character is sweet on. An engaging thriller from wire to wire, the movie is a step in the right direction for LaBeouf, who takes a break from silly action movies to show some range. The Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy combo includes filmmaker commentary, a featurette on the real-life Bondurants and deleted scenes.
Men in Black 3 — Due out Friday, this unasked for sequel re-teams Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as wise-cracking, alien-battling secret agent partners. As agent J, Smith time-travels back to 1969 to prevent Agent K (played by Jones in the present, and Josh Brolin back in the day) from being assassinated. Smith had been out of the game for several years, but he re-asserts his star power with authority, maintaining solid chemistry with both Brolin and Jones. The special effects are more silly than convincing, but they work for an action comedy. The high-end set includes 3D and 2D Blu-ray versions of the movie, as well as the DVD and digital copies. Extras peek into the effects, a gag reel and loads of making-of featurettes that look at the 1969 sets and break down some of the more memorable scenes.
ParaNorman — In one of the better animated movies released this year, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Anna Kendrick, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Leslie Mann, John Goodman and Casey Affleck lend their voices to a gothic tale about a sad boy with a The Sixth Sense-like ability to speak to ghosts. He comes of age after he discovers a secret behind a witch's curse and rounds up some kids to save the town. Although the story lacks imagination, the visuals and atmosphere are refreshingly morbid, reminiscent of Coraline. The Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy combo includes filmmaker commentary, as well as several featurettes that take you through the animation process.
Sparkle — Due out Friday, the drama stars Jordin Sparks in a remake of a 1976 film about a Supremes-like group who rise to fame in the 1960s. In her final role before her untimely passing, Whitney Houston plays a mother who disapproves of her daughter's choice of career. The melodrama is paint-by-numbers, but Sparks shines in her many show-stopping musical numbers. CeeLo Green and Derek Luke make solid impressions in supporting roles. The Blu-ray/digital copy combo includes filmmaker commentary, a tribute to Houston and a making-of featurette.
Transformers Prime: Season 2 — The re-imagining of the 1980s-spawned vehicle-robot warriors saga is sharper, more coherent and just flat-out better than any other take on the material, including any of the Michael Bay films. In season two, the Autobots and Decepticons stumble onto some previously unknown facts about the destroyed planet they used to share, learning it might be possible to bring it back to life. The set includes all 26 episodes, a San Diego Comic-Con panel, as well as interviews with the show's creative staff.

Cowell addressed a variety of tabloid rumors regarding Spears — namely that she's had some issues on set and that she's shaping up to be one of the tougher judges.

When a cameraman asked whether "Britney's too unstable" to judge "X Factor," Cowell responded, "No, she's not unstable. I'm the one who's unstable! She's working out great. All these reports that we've fallen out are nonsense. She's doing a great job."

Cowell's car then pulls away, but again comes to a stop in traffic, allowing the paparazzi to continue his questioning. Asked whether Spears was his favorite judge, Cowell said, "There's only two girls," referring to Demi Lovato, and went on to jokingly admit that he is his own favorite of all time. "Yeah, I'd say Simon Cowell is a great guy," he quipped. "Very good looking."

Pressed further about Spears, Cowell offered more praise for the pop singer. "Like I said, she's been amazing. She's really taking time to learn how to do this," he continued. "She's got her confidence up. Once people give her a chance, I think people are really going to get her. It will be a big surprise. She's a tough judge."

As tough as the famously direct Cowell? "I'm a pussycat," he said playfully as his car pulled away.

We guess all that talk that Spears has been "incredibly tough" on contestants might not be far from the truth. For her part, Spears responded to those rumors herself, taking to Twitter to say, "It's all tough love ... I promise!"

Share your thoughts about Britney Spears judging "X Factor" in the comments below!

'I don't take anything in my personal life too seriously,' she tells Teen Vogue.
By James Dinh

Contrary to the breakup rumors that flooded the Internet earlier this month, Selena Gomez is perfectly happy with pop-star boyfriend Justin Bieber.

He's just one of a few topics the VMA nominee chatted about with Teen Vogue for a September cover story. Gomez also discussed her aspirations to take acting to a whole new level and her dreams to make music with another Justin.

Describing her relationship with Bieber as "really fun," Gomez told the mag she feels "lucky" to have the young singer by her side. "I'm 20. I don't take anything in my personal life too seriously," she says. "I have great friends and a solid group of people I love. I feel like everything else will come organically."

Unlike fellow Disney alum Miley Cyrus, the pint-size pop star isn't interested in walking down the aisle anytime soon, saying, "Marriage and all that other stuff I think will happen once I feel accomplished in every other aspect of my life."

But if there's one thing Gomez is pushing for it's her long-term goal to shake off her predictable good-girl reputation. One major step in making her Mickey Mouse days a distant memory is her girls-gone-wild adventure flick "Spring Breakers," which hits theaters in early 2013. She tells the magazine that after she read the script for the Harmony Korine-directed film, she took a plane to the director's home in Nashville to convince him that she would "work really hard."

And while she describes her role in 2011's "Monte Carlo" as "a good step for me at the time," Gomez said she would never want to do something like that again. "I don't necessarily feel accomplished. I want to create a whole different persona when it comes to acting," she explained.

Gomez is also planning to take her music to the next level too, and there's one star she's dying to hit the studio with. "I don't think he ever would — I don't even think he's doing music anymore — is Justin Timberlake," she said, gushing, "Just 'cause I love his music sooo much."

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Head to VMA.MTV.com now through August 24 to vote for your favorites, or text BNA to 22444 to vote for Best New Artist all the way through the show!

'At the end of the day, Em is a great lyricist and he should be able to express himself in hip-hop as anybody should,' the MC said of 2002 rap beef.
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Throughout his career Eminem has been perhaps the most feared MC on the mic, but that didn't stop Benzino from going toe-to-toe with Slim Shady in a feud that got very personal. In 2002, Benzino labeled Em "the rap Hilter" on his dis track "Die Another Day," but if the rapper/magazine publisher had his way, he would've done things differently.

"I can say it now, I was wrong for it. Because at the end of the day, Em is a great lyricist and he should be able to express himself in hip-hop as anybody should," Benzino said on Wednesday when he appeared on "RapFix Live."

ZNO, who once ran The Source magazine with his business partner, Dave Mays, launched an all-out attack on Slim Shady. Em himself fired back with multiple well-orchestrated dis tracks like "The Sauce" and "Nail in the Coffin." Benzino says he's a different man. "You really can't accomplish nothing, as far as nowadays times, with drama," he said. "All drama does is just slow you down, it just hampers things. I don't have no beef with nobody... The situation with me and Eminem, if I could've done it over, I would've."

The Boston MC, who now stars in VH1's hit reality show "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta," believes that it was in upbringing in the rough and tumble Beantown which caused him to lash out at Em. Race definitely played an issue, but now Benzino credits the Detroit mega star with bringing different cultures together.

"Em's still doing his thing and he's still a great influence on hip-hop," he said. "Hip-hop has bridged the cultures, white, black, Latino, Asian, it's for everybody."

"I probably was an angry person back then," he continued to explain. "If I offended anybody with that, I apologize to hip-hop for that."

What do you think of Benzino's apology to hip-hop? Let us know in the comments!
